Sarah is an avid learner with mixed academic and professional backgrounds. She completed her PhD at Open Lab at Newcastle University in the UK in July 2022. She holds a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics and an MPH, both from the American University of Beirut (AUB), and an MRes in Digital Civics from Newcastle University. She worked as a project and training coordinator at the Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) at the Faculty of Health Sciences at AUB. She also worked with the innovation team of the Solferino Academy at the International Federation for Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) on multiple projects, including Limitless: the IFRC youth innovation academy, in collaboration with Monash University, which won an award at the Global Good Awards for the COVID-19 Crisis Champions category. Sarah also won a 100 TechWomen 2021 award for her work on the Community Map, connecting between young volunteers and community needs in Lebanon. Topics that Sarah is interested in and worked on are related to civic engagement, social innovation, youth innovation, solidarity economy, public health and sustainable development, and participatory and service design. Away from work, she enjoys cooking, the occasional hike and traveling to explore hidden gems, specifically nice coffeeshops.

Favourite city: I love many cities but if I had to pick one it would be Istanbul. I find it a very soul enriching city with its culture, architecture, art, history, food, and diverse neighborhoods. One can easily get lost in its alleys and no matter how much time you spend there, you will always unravel a hidden gem. For me, you can never get bored there and you are always up for an adventure.

My youthful value: Dynamic: I have been through many changes in my life and I learned how to adapt, work, and grow within conditions of uncertainty. I definitely believe that positive energy can lead to many incredible changes.

Favourite snack food: Salty potato chips
